Specimen Required:

1 red top serum gel tube or 1 green top plasma tube.  Send 1.0 mL (minimum volume 0.5 mL) serum or plasma refrigerated.

Note:  This assay is intended only as an adjunct in the diagnosis and monitoring of AFP-producing tumors.  The diagnosis should be confirmed by other tests or procedures.  This test is not intended for detection of neural tube defects.
