In 1914 Dr. F. H. Lamb set up his Anatomic and Clinical
Pathology practice in a modest suite in Davenport. Through
his leadership, Dr. Lamb was instrumental in developing
Pathology as a medical specialty in this country.
Over
the years, the private practice of this one pathologist
has grown into the Quad Cities Pathologist Groupan
association of seventeen pathologists employing over four
hundred paramedical workers. Metropolitan Medical Laboratory,
PLC has
eight labs in the Illinois and Iowa Quad Cities; four of
these are in the regional hospitals.
Today
Metropolitan Medical Laboratory,
PLC
is the laboratory of choice for Quad Cities health care
providers. Metropolitan Medical Laboratory,
PLC
provides the highest level of quality laboratory testing
to hospitals, physician offices, clinics, and nursing homes.
The
Role of Clinical Laboratory Personnel in Patient Care
The
practice of modern medicine would be impossible without
the tests performed in the clinical laboratory. Because
changes in body fluids, tissues and cells are often an indication
that something is wrong, laboratory testing plays a crucial
role in the detection and diagnosis of disease. Although
physicians rely on laboratory tests, they do not perform
the tests themselves. That is the job of clinical laboratory
personnel.
