Reference Guide Recommendations

The PDF links are more likely to work if you have the Acrobat Reader 4.0 version (see downloading notes below).

Link to the PDF files from the menu above. A separate window opens for each PDF file that you open. By minimizing window sizes you may see both the menu and the open PDF files. Close PDF files as you finish with them.

Each link in the menu and in the PDF files takes you to the beginning of an opening file. You may then use the Adobe Reader's binocular icon to search by key phrase for a test of interest. Or you may manually scroll to find a test.

Each page of the Test Index file has a red box at the top, as one way of linking back to this menu. Also, the page numbers in the Test Index file are linked to the alphabetic files containing the test descriptions. Reminder: each page link takes you to the beginning of an alphabetic file. Then scroll to a test, or use the binocular icon for a keyword search.

Updates: New and replacement tests are marked in the Reference Guide files in red font and are linked to the test descriptions. Use your browser's or Adobe Reader's back button to return to the originating file. Current updates are also noted in a text box below.

Downloading Adobe Acrobat Reader

The current version of Acrobat Reader is preferred, and may be necessary, for opening the Reference Guide files and using the links in them.

Clicking the following Adobe Acrobat Reader graphic will take you to the download website. (Downloading this reader takes only a few moments.)

Adobe Acrobat offers a patch that updates the accessibility features of Acrobat Reader. The accessibility features enhance the Acrobat Reader's compatibility with reading devices for the sight impaired.

Tips for Using Adobe Acrobat Reader

  • Use your browser's back button to return to this page of links.
  • If you are a first time PDF user, run your cursor over the Adobe Reader icons above the text material. Note that you can save, print, search, jump forward & backward through pages, and zoom the page size.
  • The page number task bar is below the text. Task bar numbers correspond with the page numbering of one file, NOT with the overall page numbering of the Reference Guide itself.
  • To print particular pages, enter the task bar page numbers in the Print window.
  • If you will be a regular online user, you may find it handy to print page 2, the Contents page, to hang on your bulletin board.
